All parents are encouraged to sign up with Snow PTA. The PTA organizes events that bring our community together, invigorate student learning with new materials and make decisions that impact the school. If you would like to register for PTA, please contact the school office for an application.
Fall Festival planning is underway NOW. The next meeting to help plan is September 19 at 5pm. Great events rely on great volunteers – hope we’ll see you there!
This year we are using a new photography company, Dorian Studio. This gives us some new options and perks!
EVERY student will get a FREE class photo! No need to order it.
Worried your child will lose their picture money or forget to turn it in? You can order your photos online at www.dorianstudio.com/prepay (you will need an order envelope – extra copies available in the office)
You can CUSTOMIZE your photo order with name imprints, choice of background color and retouching.
You can order your child’s photo on specialty items like magnets, journals, calendars or standing frames.
You can order the digital copy of your child’s photo for your personal use.
Students should bring their picture orders and payments with them to school. Every student will have their picture taken that day. Make-up pictures will be in the following weeks. If you have questions about pictures, please contact the school office.

Once you sign up on the self serve page, you will receive an email invitation from Sangha with easy instructions. If you don’t see the email invite, check other places it might be in your Junk, Spam, Social, Promotions, or other email Folders.
If you’ve signed up before and didn’t see the invitation from Sangha, your invitation probably went to Spam. Please try it again in this new, easy way. If you have any problems, just talk to Mrs. Sehrt.
It’s a free phone app that acts as an event calendar for your children, their teachers, and Snow School. You can send messages directly to teachers, and see all your school information in one handy place.
On May 23, 2016, 16 members of Snow Staff became Level 1 Google Certified Educators! To earn certification, teachers demonstrated proficiency in Google Apps for Education: Docs, Slides, Sheets, Classroom, Groups and Sites. We are excited to continue our professional development with Google apps as we add more Chromebooks to our school site. Look for your teacher’s (or principal’s!) yellow badge in their next e-mail to you!
The Newark Police Department has launched a new Community Notification Service called “Nixle” to help improve communication with people who live, work, and visit our community. The system provides a quick, efficient, and secure way to get neighborhood-level information out to community members who subscribe to the system. Through www.nixle.com, the department will be able to send text message (SMS) and e-mail alerts to subscribers. Notifications might be considered in the following instances:
A young child or adult with Alzheimer’s disease walks away from their home. The alert can include a picture of the child or vulnerable adult with a map identifying the area at which they were last seen.
A public safety emergency requires people to stay in or remain away from their homes. A Nixle alert can let residents with a registered address in the affected neighborhood know what’s happening, allowing residents to take a proactive role in their own safety.
A serious injury or fatal crash in which traffic investigators close down the intersection for several hours during the morning commute. This situation might warrant a notification to subscribers who live or work in the area, encouraging them to select a different route to work.
Other uses: Large-scale public works projects, traffic safety implications around large fire scenes, community events such as parades, fireworks, picnics, etc., details about a case of H1N1 (“swine flu”) in the area, city council meeting information, utility outage advisories/boil orders.
The Newark Library is pleased to announce new hours of service. Beginning January 5, 2015 the Library will be open Mondays rather than Fridays in order to better serve the residents of Newark.
Our new hours mean that we will be able to offer more programs to serve the school-age youth in our Homework Help Center, Homework Express. Homework Express will be expanding its hours to include Monday programs in February. Also, being open at noon on Mondays and Tuesdays will allow for more quiet study time for the public.
Newark Library is located at 6300 Civic Terrace Avenue in Newark. Its friendly staff may be reached by phone at 510-284-0675. The hours of operation are:
Monday: 12:00 PM – 8:00PM
