The program is open to all incoming 4th, 5th and 6th grade students and is funded
by the Newark Educational Foundation. Students will learn to play one of a varie-
ty of instruments and perform in the Elementary Band.
Why should you learn to play and better understand music?
Learning an instrument is FUN and develops discipline
Practicing an instrument increases a student’s ability to focus
Studies show that learning music early in one’s life greatly improves
mathematical and abstract thinking abilities

Birch Grove Primary. At this event we will discuss sign-ups and class times. We
will also have instrument demonstrations and a question and answer session.
