It is with great pleasure that H.A. Snow staff welcomes each and every one of you to our school community.  We are extremely confident that your child will encounter rigorous, innovative experiences that will better prepare them for a bright, successful future.

Snow’s stellar teaching staff and support personnel want to ensure that every child succeeds.  There is a feeling of pride from the moment you step on our campus.  We strive to support and encourage each child in achieving his/her optimum potential by instilling in them an intrinsic sense of worth, curiosity, and love of learning.  Through ongoing teacher collaboration, our teachers provide an exemplary program that focuses on creating a balance between achieving high academic standards and character education.

Once source of pride at Snow is that we are using the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop model in every classroom.  Teachers use the renowned Lucy Calkins units of study for reading and writing.   These units complement each other and provide learning progressions to meet every child where they are academically.  Students are instructed in rigorous mini-lessons that foster collaboration with peers, debate skills, and future-ready literacy skills.

Technology is key to instruction and learning at Snow.  Every K-2 classroom has iPads and Chromebooks available for technology instruction and use.  3rd-6th grade clasrooms use Chromebooks on a daily basis for research, inquiry, math application, computer/science, coding, and writing.  Students use Google Classroom for assignments and Prezi and Google Slides for presentations.

It is with great honor and privilege that as the principal I can say that our students are the main source of our Blizzard Bear Pride.   Much like our mascot, the polar bear needs the right climate and environment to survive, our students need the right teachers, support staff and family partnerships to excel.  Our students are hard working, intelligent, and well-behaved examples of who we want them all to be as they grow to maturity.  Our teachers and staff members collaborate to deliver experiences that challenge and motivate them to learn the rigorous standards at each grade level.  Our parents are fantastically supportive of the school’s efforts on behalf of their children.  Good character, educational excellence, and pride are key features of our service to children.

We are looking forward to another year committed to strengthening our partnerships, teamwork, and to do our best and be our best for our Snow Blizzard Bears’ amazing students.  If you have any questions about our school, please feel free to contact us through e-mail, or in person.
